Our music program, under the direction of Muriel Homer, leads worship through music and also reaches out to the community. It consists mainly of the Chancel Choir and the Bell Choir, but also includes special music. Our worship style is reflected in our music, which is eclectic traditional, ranging from Bach organ works to occasional praise band music.
Through such varied music, we want worshipers to experience the roots of the church’s glorious music traditions, through many genres including classical, baroque, Taizé, folk, world and ethnic, spirituals and jazz, into today’s creative and worshipful contemporary styles. We want to enable people to encounter the living Christ and the transforming power of the Holy Spirit through the richness of hymns, psalms and spiritual songs.

The Christian Education Ministry understands that it is the parents who have the primary role in teaching their children the story of their faith. However, the church family has the responsibility to support them in this considerable task. Sunday school classes are offered for both children and adults.
Avon Lake Presbyterian Church fully supports the youth of the community, leading them to a life in Christ by providing healthy fellowship and Christ-centered study. Our statement above focuses on the need to be aware of the love and grace of our creator and acceptance in the great diversity of God’s children. Primarily built around a missional understanding of the Gospel, we focus on our responsibility to care for those less fortunate. The youth participate in a variety of mission activities from small, one-time events, to 7+ day mission trips at the local, national and international level.
The ALPC Youth groups consist of four separate groups: YCYG (young children's youth group) for those in grades 4 and 5, Junior High for those in grades 6 through 8, Senior High for those in grades 9 through 12, and Young Adults (age 18+).
Non-members of ALPC are welcome to participate in any of the events, so long as they are the appropriate age, whether or not they have friends at a given event. Friends are encouraged to join! Events generally occur on Sunday evening, but times are dictated more on the activity.
